Vitamin C

Some days I think I even under estimate the power of vitamin C!

I have been reading about Vitamin C, and thought I'd share some of the information I've gathered:

"Vitamin C is the only vitamin repeatedly proven to increase the human lifespan when taken in doses that exceed dietary levels of this vitamin." - Bill Sardi

"The assumption the public is under is that vitamin C added as a supplement during the manufacture of any liquid is all beneficial; this is a myth. The facts are that adding vitamin C to drinks may constitute only 50-60% L, with the remainder being the D side. Although it is believed that the body discards the D side of vitamin C, further research needs to be undertaken to confirm this theory. It may be that is some individuals that an abundance of the D side of vitamin C could conceivably be detrimental to their optimal health." - Robert Mason, PhD

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is probably one of the most highly publicized, yet least understood, of all of the vitamins. Championed by Nobel laureate Linus Pauling, Ph.D., and advocated by many nutrition buffs, vitamin C is indeed a fascinating and important nutrient (or micronutrient) necessary for human life.

I will be posting a full article on vitamin C soon! So keep a look out!

Eating Breakfast

I am shocked at how many people forget how important it is to eat breakfast every morning. I am aware that some people do not enjoy eating in the monring, but it is one of the most important meals of the day!

How can eating breakfast help you lose weight? A question that is very valid and indeed is worth an answer! By eating when you first get up in the morning, you're jump starting your metabolism from sleep, which helps your body start burning calories from the moment you're out of bed!!!

I suggest eating fruits, whole wheat bread, whole grain cereal, but not eggs, or any meat for breakfast (too heavy for that early). Don't forget a glass of fresh squeezed organe juice and LOTS of water!!

Eating healthy

Many women believe that skipping breakfast or lunch won't hurt them - and by not eating they may lose a few pounds, but this is where they're mistaken.

Skipping meals does not, in any shape or form, help you lose weight. When you starve your body, it knows very well that it is not getting any food, so the next time you eat, your body will store more than usual, because now it is not certain of when it will be replenished again.

Our bodies are very intelligent, and we can try to fool it, but rarely can we be successful. The truth is that in order to have a healthy, fit body, there is nothing short of eating healthy and exercising on a regular basis.

Sure, we would all like to take a magic pill and wake up 20lbs. lighter, but there is no healthy of way of doing so. Many commercials on TV try to fool us into believing that if we take their pill, we can lose those extra pounds, but the fine print will tell you that you still need to eat a healthy, balanced diet and exercise regularly - which means if you do so, you don't need the pills to begin with!!

But eating, and not skipping meals, is very important. More than looking good we want to be healthy, so eat 4-5 meals a day, and be sure to include all your fruits and veggies!
